Los Angeles Temple

Last night we went to the temple
There is something so peaceful about being there
Despite all the traffic we sat in
All the red lights that we hit
Finding out that we didn't end up getting a tax return
It was still peaceful

Even if only for that hour and a half we were there
It was worth it

Vegas with the Girls

Last weekend I went to Vegas for a girls weekend. It was SO fun! We spent our mornings at the gym, and the spa, the rest of the day we lounged poolside and in the evenings we went to see Ka, and went to aBrittney Spears concert. A big thank you to Kristi for planning such a fun weekend.

The girls!
Some of the girls took a Pole workout class, as you can tell I did not, which is why I have no idea what I am doing in this picture :)
The boys just couldn't stay away

Chad's Birthday Email Reminder

I received this email from Chad and couldn't stop laughing. I told him his email was hilarious and he said he wasn't just trying to be funny, he was serious.

Well, its that time of year, the time we all gather together to commemorate one of the greatest moments in history, the day the earth welcomed Chad Remington Davenport for everyone to enjoy. It is this years highly anticipated Friday, July 1st and this email is to welcome each of you to shower his greatness with gifts.

There is a certain level of service expected for this Friday. For starters, I would like Whitney to make the bed when we get up. I would also like to either have a cooked breakfast ready for me when I come downstairs or I guess mom can take me out to breakfast.

As of right now, the only thing that I have going on is that I am going to get a straight razor shave in Manhattan Beach with Sam sometime in the late morning, early afternoon. As far as Friday night goes, I could see me possibly going to Dennys and getting moons over my hammy since you get a free meal on your birthday...not exactly. I was thinking I'd like to go to Houstons and get that burger that I love, maybe go to the one in Santa Monica.

Many people keep asking me what to get me for my birthday and I have tried getting back to everyone but it has been tough to find the time to respond to everyone. Here are a couple things to think of:

• a new beach chair, preferably one with a pouch in the back

• a mesh bag that will hold at least 6 volleyballs

• volleyball antennas (possibly)

• new nike basketball shorts, XL

• quiksilver boardshorts with diamond bobby inlay size 36

• anything Maui and sons

• some new sunscreen or lotion--or any mens grooming products besides shave cream and after shave

• a pair of tan color shorts size 36 waist, not cargo shorts

• anything golf or beach volleyball related

• grape flavored grape vine licorice

• that red austrailian licorice I like

• ipad 2

• sambazon acai juice or jamba juice giftcard (increments of $50 minimum)

This is just the list I am sending to family, just plan on getting me one of each on this list and you will be OK. Any questions or comments, feel free to "reply to all" and I will have someone get back to you with an answer.

Lights, CAMERA, Action!

Emphasis on CAMERA! We splurged and decided to get our feet wet and enter the SLR world. After researching, and asking around we got a Nikon D90. Chad did a great job at finding us a deal and we couldn't pass it up. I have been wanting a nice camera for a while and told myself once we had kids we would get one. Well we decided once we have kids we probably won't have the extra money (or time) so we might as well do it now. And no, there will not be an anouncement coming anytime soon. I have been playing with it a ton while Chad has been reading the books my mom let us read on how to work this thing. If any of you have any tips, books or lenses that you like please let me know!

Such a studious husband...and he's cute too ;)

PS I know my roots are terrible, I'm trying to get those fixed real soon.

Way to go Chad!

Chad has been playing a LOT of Beach Volleyball over the past two years (from the first time he started playing) and this year he has been doing really well! I just want to brag about him for a second, the last two tournaments he played in... he won! I am so proud of him! He now has his A rating through the California Beach Volleyball Association.

Its a great sport because we still get to do what we love to do on the weekends...be at the beach!

What a Wonderful Weekend

Love the alliteration in the post? Thats the one thing I remember from studying poetry in 7th grade.

Anyways onto what this post is really about. Last week Chad's grandfather Grandpa Jensen passed away. He was a wonderful man whom I am grateful we were able to visit and get to know in the few (almost 4!) years we have been married. His graveside service was in Brigham City, UT. We were able to spend the day with so many cousins, aunts and uncles, grandma, and Chad's immediate family. It was a beautiful day and feel very blessed for such a great family I married into.

I was also able to meet my new niece, Lily. She was not quite 6 weeks old and such a cute and good baby. I most definately got my baby fix in while I was there.

Also on the same weekend my whole family (minus dad) and aunts and uncles, cousins and grandparents on my mom's side were in Utah. There was a suprise 40th B-day party for my Uncle on Friday night that I was able to suprise my sisters and brother at (double suprise). Also on Sunday my cousin Matt gave his homecoming talk. Unfortuantely my battery died and I didn't take very many pictures, but I had a great time in Utah.

My little (big) brother, playing the piano. We decided he should play the piano with his shirt off and put him on You-tube as the shirtless piano player...coming soon.

My sister Hayley, love love my sisters.
Alyssa with my cousin Danny and his new wife who I also love

Brother David and Meggan

Just looking at all these pictures makes me miss last weekend already. I couldn't believe how much we did in the short time we were in Utah. I hate to say it but I actually missed living up there, granted the weather was perfect, and all my family was there. But the open space, green trees and beautiful mountains were so nice to be in for the weekend. Until next time...

Preparing the "Piggies" for the Summer

One of my favorite things about the summer is tan feet! I read this article about the Do's and Don'ts of pedicures and thought I would pass it on.

Lately I have been OBSESSED with Nail Polish. I love OPI and Essie and also Sally Hansen has a few good ones, I can't stop buying. I tutor an autistic boy 2xs a week and everytime I go over he says "you changed your nails...again". I make sure now that I repaint often because I know that he looks for it ech time we tutor. Here are a few of the new ones I bought:

Here's to Catching up with my longest friend!

Lisa and I became friends when her family moved into the Canyon Lake ward over 14 years ago. I was the only girl in my class at church and was thrilled to have a girl my age move in. Little did I know that we would remain close friends throughout middle school, high school, college, and now "adulthood" (not sure how adult I am but I try). She is now a mom to the cutest little boy Andrew and lives in Utah while her husband Matt is finishing up @ BYU. We have always joked about the "opposite" things we have in common, here are a few:

Blonde vs Brunnette, Rival Highschools, Cheer vs Volleyball, Tilly's vs Billabong (our highschool jobs), those are just a few that came to the top of my head, now we can add mother vs "non-mother".

She and her family came out to visit Chad and I yesterday, we ate dinner on the patio at the Cheesecake Factory in the Redondo Beach Harbor. It was a gorgeous evening. Afterwards we watched baby Andrew perform all his new tricks, we joked that he is more entertaining to watch than TV. He is a doll, and I want to know how to get eyelashes like him.

Thanks Lisa, Matt and Andrew for hanging out with Chad and I and allowing me to get my "baby fix".

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a fantastic Memorial Weekend. Luckily for us it started on Friday, my boss has a home ont the beach and we had our first annual beach party. We set up in the morning and then started the party at noon. There was volleyball, baggo, and darts, along with great food. It was really fun to get together with people from our other office.

On Saturday Chad had a beach volleyball tournament. I didn't take any pictures unfortuantely but he did win the tournament and got his "rating". We had a lot of friends who came out and supported him and his friend Jorge. We have made so many good friends in Hermosa and are grateful for their support.

Sunday we had church and then did dinner with some of our friends in the ward, The Fishbacks and The Bells. Catherine and Bradford Fishback live right in Hermosa and we had Cafe Rio on their patio as we listened to the waves break.

Catherine and Madison bringing down the food
Yummy Cafe Rio
Chad and Eric Bell talking volleyball strategy I am sure, these two love to play volleyball.

Then on Monday my family came out and we went up to Palos Verdes. We went to the Wayfarers Glass Chapel and then hiked down to Abalone Cove. It was a beautiful day, I enjoyed spending time with my family. It was fun to see me mom enjoy the day so much, she and my dad used to drive up to Palos Verdes 20 years ago for their date nights, and they also brought me and my brother up here when we were young.

On Monday afternoon we went to Long Beach for a family bbq and walked around 2nd Street in Belmont Shores. I am grateful for this holiday, for what it represents, for what it allows us to enjoy today. I am grateful for my grandfather who fought for our country and who continues to give so much to our family.
