Statement Necklace

I love what a pretty necklace can do to an ordinary outfit. I bought this necklace here and love it. It was inexpensive but beautiful. I tend to wear scarves a lot and have been slacking on the necklace side. This was just what I needed to motivate me to start accessorizing with pretty jewelry. I turned to the trusty pinterest for some inspiration.

PS. Chad said I looked like I could be "Where's Waldo". I think I might have gotten some inspiration for Halloween :)

Candy Corn Inspired Nails

One of my favorite things about October is Candy Corn. My mother in law has this cute candy corn dish that inspired this nail design. This was the toughest one I have done, and to be honest it looks better from a distance. When you get up close and personal, you can see all the little mistakes. I free handed using my left hand and then used tape as a guide for my left hand. Here are the steps I did. Let me know if you try it and find an easier way.

1. Paint Nails white (paint the whole nail white, I did half and it showed through only 1/2)

2. Let each color completely dry, you can speed up the process by using a hair dryer

3. Cut the tape with a slight roundness to it and tape off the white section (as if you were doing a french manicure)

4. Apply 2 coats of Orange polish, remove tape promptly and let completely dry

5. Tape halfway down the orange section using the same piece of tape so that the curve is the same on each nail, and apply yellow polish.

6. Remove tape and let completely dry.

7. Apply a top coat

This was a fun Halloween design, I think I am going to try it again using white, gold and silver.

$39,000 and Braids...Random enough?

The Olsen twins have a gorgeous Alligator skinned back-pack selling for... $39,000!! And guess what? They are having a hard time keeping up with the demand? Seriously? I guess not everyone if affected by the economy. You can read and see a picture of it here and here.

I also tried this hairstyle from Pinterest. My hair is getting so long I can't hardly do anything with it, my top bun is like a huge top BUTT, curls seem to fall because hair is too heavy, fishtailing takes FOREVER etc. I typically go 6 months in between cutting my hair, I'm a hair hoarder. I hate to let it go, but I think its time for an intervention and a cut, not just a trim. I don't want to be one of those ladies who have hair down to their knees.

How long is too long (both for hair length and in between cuts)?

I Knew it Was Going to Rain...

You wanna know how I knew? Because I washed my car this weekend, and that is just how it goes. Washed car=rainy weather, am I right? You know what else happens after I was my car? The birds have "target" practice on my shiny car. Yep, I'm convniced they seek out only the clean cars to work with.


As I am sitting at work and viewing the palm-tree lined street, that for the last few months has been a scene of blue skies, summer vacationers, and warm weather, it makes me sad to say goodbye to summer; but at the same time I kind of enjoy the cooler, occasional rainy days at the beach. Its so quiet and peaceful, and I also got to whip out my boots for the first time.

It got me thinking that I need a new pair of boots, riding boots to be specific. Last year I wasn't as into them, but this year that is what I have been drawn to. I'm thinking I want something like these, I love the rustic brown color,the buckles and rugged look. I like the ziper on these ones, these ones are more simple. I like these grey ones, and I also like the way these ones look worn. While I like all of these I really want the pair I saw a girl at In-N-Out wearing. I should have asked her where she got them but I didn't, darn. If any of you know what brand has a red zipper going down the back of the boots, please let me know!

Scrapbook Nails

I've got another Nail Design I tried out today. I saw this on pinterest here and tested it out for myself.

1. Paint two coats of lighter color (Essie Master Plan) and let dry

2. Cut tape with Scrapbook scissors and stick on nails

3. Paint nails with the darker color (OPI You Don't Know Jaques) and remove tape promptly

4. Apply top coat

Lifestyles of the Sisterhood!

I've mentioned before that I have 3 sisters, who have become my best friends. Growing up we fought a lot, mainly about sharing clothes, cleaning the room, or using the car. Back then I never knew that these girls would come to mean so much to me. We are all at different stages in our lives, I am married, Alyssa is in her last semester of college, Hayley is also in college preparing to apply to nursing programs, and McKenna has just started high school. Whenever we get together we are always talking about fashion, pinterest, nails, sewing projects, boys, food, DIY projects, our lil brother Landon, etc. We decided to start a blog as a way to stay connected, as we are all living apart, share our favorite new idea, and reminice on the past. Catch a Falling Star and Paint it on Your Nails...

This didn't turn out as good as I had envisioned, but still was fun to do.

Here's How:

1. Apply 2 coats of Gold Nailpolish and let completely dry ( I used this one)

2. Place star sticker on the corner of your nail and paint the Seafoam color (found here), or whichever color you choose, obviously ;)

3. I painted one hand and then took the stars off pretty much right away and let dry. 

4. As always apply Top Coat
