That time we won tickets to Fiji

I love going to baseball games, so when our friend had some extra seats (which were amazing seats) we quickly found some babysitting and headed out for a date night. We made our way through good ol' LA traffic and found our seats halfway through the first inning.  As we sat down we saw Chad's cousin who works in the media/production department at Dodger Stadium. He happened to be part of the camera crew in the section we were sitting, and had us up on the jumbo-tron within minutes of sitting down. We thought that was pretty cool, and carried on as the Dodgers were taking a beating from the Phillies.

About 15-20 minutes later we were about to go enjoy a traditional Dodger Dog, but the two girls pictured above came and approached us. They told us that we had been selected to be contestants of the United Dream Destination giveaway.  They would give us three clues and we had to choose which of the 3 locations the clues matched up to. The three options were 1. Hawaii, 2. FIJI and 3. Bora Bora. Both of our hearts were racing as all three options were amazing.  With a lot of luck and maybe a little hint we guessed Fiji, and we were right. We then filled out the paperwork and Chad was going to be going on the field and reenact just what we had done at the bottom of the 4th inning, in front of the whole stadium, on Mormon Night nonetheless.  Chad's contemplation of which answer is right, and his reaction was great, he's hoping that there might be some agent that was there and he will get discovered :) Neither one of us could sleep that night, we were so excited. We don't know any details yet, but what we do know is WE ARE GOING TO FIJI!!

Although the Dodgers had a major loss (16-1), it was the BEST baseball game I have ever been to.

Fathers Day in Mammoth

This year for Father's Day we went to Mammoth with Chad's parents. I'm not going to lie when I say I was a little nervous for this trip. You see the last time I was there, 6 years ago, I was hiking with my mom, dad, sister and baby brother when we ran into an unwelcome guest. A Bear!!! I'm not exaggerating when I say the bear was no more than 20 ft or so away from us.  We "calmly" turned around, and headed away from the water since that is where they look for food, and we waited a little while until we felt we were all clear.  This experience has haunted me every time I am out in the woods, and the thought of hiking in the same area scared me. What if that bear remembered me and decided to "get me this time"? Anyways long story short, we went to Mammoth, locals told us the bears are nothing to be scared of and we had a fantastic time. Here are the pictures to prove it.
This char is just his size

Just his size too :)

Why use your hands when you can just dive in?

Chad the Barber

I woke up this morning to Chad coming back in our room announcing he was cutting Cole's hair. Back in college he used to cut his friends hair for pizza, so he has a lot of experience ;) He did a great job on Cole, but I don't think anything can prepare you for a wiggly baby as your client.

He used food as the first distraction

The next distraction was showing him videos of himself. He thinks he is really funny.

He looks like a little boy from behind

Who is this big boy and what did he do with my baby??

Try Not Laughing When You Watch This...

I love this little laugh more than anything! I've watched it over and over and still laugh everytime.

9 Months - June 7, 2013

The 9 Month report card is in and here are Cole's stats: 30 in tall (90%) 19 lbs 2 oz (40%) and 18 in. head circ (90%)
We've got ourselves a tall skinny boy! He loves to eat and seems to be growing up as opposed to out, lucky kid. He now says mamama, but only when he is frustrated or wants more food. "Dadada" is reserved for the fun playful times, I think that's how it is, dads are fun and moms solve problems. When he wants something he opens and closes his hands as quick as he can. Cole loves to play with his toys and can entertain himself for about 15-20 minutes. His FAVORITE toy is my cell phone, and he can find it anywhere. I think he has learned that it is always close by me and he will look for it.  He's not mobile yet, and I am enjoying it, as I know life will change yet again once he is crawling all over the place. Stranger-danger hasn't set in yet, but Cole is terrified of dogs, his whole body shakes when he sees them.

We started Mommy & Me classes this past Tuesday, and he had fun making lots of new friends (and so did I).  I think his favorite part was singing time. It doesn't surprise me because that is his favorite part of primary as well.

iPhone Pictures

Its obvious that I haven't blogged in a looooong time. There's been a few reasons, 1. Cole, 2. No Internet, 3. No time 4. Not motivated 5. Instagram.

Those are just a few of the excuses I have used over the past few months. But we now have the Internet again, and not just on our phones so those other excuses now don't stand a chance. A LOT has gone on since i blogged last, I'm no longer working is one of them! It's great, and nice to not have to put in the time to a job i was no longer passionate about, at the expense of Cole. Besides that Cole is growing more and more each day, and finding a way to get me to fall more in love with him every day as well. I don't know how he does it, between his cute stares into my eyes, snuggles in the morning, giggles throughout the day, and the unconditional love he shows me, sure does win me over. Especially now that we sleep through the night, EVERY night now is beyond words exciting for the Davenport household. Chad probably feels like he finally has his wife back, and I feel like I have my life back.

Here are a bunch of pictures from the past 4 months or so:

Nothing more precious that a sleeping baby (4 months)

We matched, unintentionally

6 month checkup

He had really cute pants on, but he pooped in them and I didn't have an extra pair. So we went to Gap and Chad said to buy the cheapest pair, and there you have our dork for the day.

Easter, already giving bunny ears to Uncle Landon

Swimming in St. George (April)

City Creek with some of my sisters and brother

I love my little man!

Two things that make Cole so happy - Grandma and the beach!!

We cheared our hearts out for Uncle Landon at his flag football game. All the boys on his team cried at some point for not making a touchdown, or getting their flag taken off.

Spending the day at our favorite place! Can you tell he loves being at the beach?

Happy Mother's Day!

I can't stand how cute babies are when they sleep!

Ladies for each arm!

Father and son!

Help I'm stuck!

Stuck again, except this time he has his cute big boy jammies on.

8 Months - May 7, 2013

Firsts: First Airplane ride (to Utah), First time sitting up all by himself, First time we all slept through the night, First time I left him for the weekend (so hard), First ear infection, First Pink Eye, First time swimming.

Cole is the happiest baby! I can't tell you how much I love him and love playing with him. It is amazing what a full nights sleep does for everyone. He has always been really happy, but now I feel like such a happier mom as well. We went to Utah and Cole was able to see all of his aunts and uncles up there and our friends. He loves to be out and about, running errands, going to the park, to the beach. He now sits in the seat of the grocery cart and smiles and stares at EVERYONE until they smile back at him. Going anywhere is so fun with him, watching him take in new places. Chad took Cole in the pool in St. George on 5/7 and he kicked and splahsed and laughed the whole time. What's better than a huge bathtub?? Not much to Cole. He now eats 3 times a day, and two of the stage 2 foods each meal. We go through about 35 of those containers a week, thats about $90 a month. Trying to be the good mom, I whipped up some baby food (wish it was as easy as it sounds), and a few hours later I had a stash of pears, sweet potatoes and carrot/peas. I couldn't wait to give him his first homemade meal, but to my disappointment he spit and gagged on the food. I hope this isn't a sign of the future. I ended up freezing in ice cube trays all the food and will try giving it to him in the future.
